The Impossible Day (day seven)

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral (from the top)

Stonehenge

Wilton House

I started my day at 5:30 this morning.  Today we visited Salisbury.  The day started with visiting the tallest cathedral in England, Salisbury Cathedral.  I did make it to the top of the gothic style cathedral to see the amazing view. I absolutely loved being so high and seeing so much!   One interesting fact is that the cathedral rests on gravel and water, which is supposed to be sturdy.
From Salisbury cathedral we ventured to Wilton House by taxi.  Wilton house is home to the earl of Pembroke.  It contains the famous work of Thomas Chippendale.  There are three extraordinary book cases by him there.  We were fortunate enough to be able to see some of the private living area.  We saw the recently restored dining room as well as an anti-room of some sort.  Wilton house features work by Inigo Jones as well as the double cube room.
Following our lengthy tour of Wilton house we traveled to Stonehenge.  It was just how it looks in the photographs.  It is set on green rolling hills.  I was surprised to find sheep not too far from where the stones are located.  Today was a very packed but fulfilling day.
