Today consisted of walking by a very green building, visiting Musee de Orsay, and visiting Villa Savoye.  Musee de Quai is a building with plants growing on it.  I love this idea especially in Paris where the green space is very limited.  At the Musee d Orsay I saw paintings by Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, Seurat, Monet and such.  It was amazing!  I love being able to recognize famous artist and their style of work.  At this museum they had a large selection of Art Nouveau work.  Art Nouveau has never been my style, but it was amazing to see all of the curvilinear lines used in the furniture.  I found it all very pretty, a little wacky at times, but pretty.  My favorite was a fauteuil chair.  Some of the work in this section was done by Henry van de Veld, Emile Galle, and Hector Guimard.  There was also work by Rene Lalique.  I appreciate and like the art nouveau style much more.  Some things you just have to experience or see in person before you like them.  Next stop, Villa Savoye. Villa Savoye was designed by Le Corbusier.  Villa Savoye was built during the years of 1928 - 1931.  It is considered a modern building for its time.  Corbusier considered Villa Savoye a "machine for living."  Le Corbusier's furniture is also found inside this house. The few chairs in there were the pony chaise, which is really comfortable surprisingly, Le petite comfort, and the basculante chair.  It was fun to sit in these famous chairs by a well-known designer.  Today was filled with work by lots of wonderful people!
